QYD Quest — May 11, 2020

Updated: Jul 30, 2021

On May 11th the Essex QYD Project will be hosting a Teen Legislative Forum via ZOOM from 1:30 to 3pm. This will represent the achievement of another important  QYD Benchmark for Essex, bringing the community closer to certification as a QYD™ Community. Four elected state officials representing the Essex community have agreed to serve on a panel to discuss a wide range of topics of concern to area youth. Over 30 local teens are expected to participate and ask questions of their state representatives regarding issues related to the climate crisis, voting rights, school safety, the impact of COVID-19, and other topics of concern to them. This event is free for any teen living or attending school in the Essex community. In order to best manage the Teen Legislative Forum, the Steering Committee has requested that youth “pre-register” by simply sending an email stating their intention to participate. Emails can be sent to jarollins@vt.ewsd.org.

By the way - it’s my understanding that those youth who preregister and then participate in the Forum will be entered into a drawing for a $25 pizza gift card! There may be a limit on the number of youth who can participate in the forum, so those who are interested should send that email ASAP.
